This topic is close to my heart because my brother "Andre" died of this lifestyle.
When God created the first two people, He made them male and female.
Genesis 1:27: “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” God created one male and one female; they were called Adam and Eve.
We must also note that God made one of each, male and female; not two of each, so they could pare off and have offspring.
When sin entered the world because of disobedience, and people began to multiply, Satan began to work his plan to corrupt man’s ability to procreate and turned it into recreational perversion. Eventually, people built cities, and two of these cities were Sodom and Gomorrah.
The primary sin of these two cities was homosexuality.
Genesis 18:20-21, “And the LORD said, ‘Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous; I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know.’”
We must note that in verse 20, God mentions that their sin is very grievous, not sins as plural. There was one specific type of sin under consideration, and that is homosexuality.
Genesis 19:1-11: God sent two angels to Sodom to judge it. Verse 4 tells us that the men of Sodom, “both old and young”, came to Lot’s house, where the two men were. In verse 5, the men of Sodom “called unto Lot, and said unto him, ‘Where are the men which came in to thee this night? Bring them out unto us, that we may know them.’” In this case “know them” means to know them sexually, which is why Lot said in verse 7, “…I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly.”
These were radical gays being driven by they determination to fulfill their lusts.
How determined were they?
Verse 10 tells us that the two angelic men pulled Lot to safety inside his house and smote all the gays with blindness according to verse 11, which says, “And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door.”
Not that these men were so radically consumed with lust that even though they were blinded they still wanted these two men and rejected the woman that was given them.
What does God think of homosexuality?
He made a clear statement by recording in Genesis 19:24: “Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven.”
The place where these city’s were, near the Dead-sea, is desolate till this day and nothing is grows there.
Jesus warned us that the same thing would happen in the last days Luke 17:28-30, “Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot… Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.”
Corinthians 6:9-10: “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.”
The whole world is in deep trouble. Homosexuality and lesbianism is being condoned! It is a horrible sin, and repentance is long overdue.
Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. Romans 1:26:
You thought that you were outwitting God. You thought that here He is trying to reach you, while you just say, “I’ll show Him. I’ll just enjoy living in sin, I was born that way!”
What Paul is saying here is that God has already begun to punish you. It is a judgment of God that you remain in sin. When you think that you’re getting away with it, that’s the worst thing of all that can happen. The worst sign of God’s judgment is that you’re able to sin and get away with it.
Nor does God give us a bold sign, telling us, “Here’s what I am going to do.” He just gives those over to thier sins. He doesn’t push us; He doesn’t hammer us. In effect, Paul is saying this: Is it sin that you want? Sin you will get. That’s the first way God punishes sin.
The second way is by exposure at the final judgment. Say you decide to live in sin; you’re thinking, at first, that something’s going to happen as a kind of warning from God, like thunder and lightening, but when it doesn’t come, you think, I don’t feel a thing; I’m able to go on and do this. When a person does what is not right, he may say, “I don’t feel any different; I feel fine.” But how does God punish by exposure at the final judgment. God “will give to each person according to what he has done” (Romans. 2:6).
A third way is that God’s Son, Jesus, took our punishment on the cross. Eternally speaking, there are two ways whereby God punishes sin: (H.I.V.) the fires of hell and the blood of Jesus. He who knew no sin was made sin.
Let this be what lingers in your mind. It’s not a question of whether your sin will be punished; it is the question of how.
May God grant you to see why the Bible talks about “fleeing from the wrath to come.” (Matthew 3:7; Luke 3:7.)
We must pray against this perversion and help those who want to get out of it. We already know what God thinks and that His judgments will follow shortly!

Im sorry about your brother, my son is gay and not for one minute do I think that he had a choice in the matter. And I definitely do not think that God with a capitol G is going to throw him into the depths of hell because of it. Yes we have all heard the old adage, "God made Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve"!! Okay then who made Steve? Sorry for your sadness I just believe differentley and I definitely respect your views. Cheers to you!
Well, Lesbians do not do sodomy... and I know many married hetrosexuals that do!! It may be gross to me, but not to others. It is not my place to judge anyone. I am a writer, housewife, mother, etc... but not a judge. Niether are you. I think you have a lot of wisdom, but there are people who do worse things and are NOT gay. That is the truth!!
Thank you for your perspective on this very debatable issue. I too am a Christian, and I believe that God loves all of his children. Just as you grew up with your brother and knew and loved him, so too do I have a daughter who I love. Oh, and she is gay. I did nothing differently in raising her. She took dance and ballet and tap and played the flute. She is very girly. She was not a tom boy. She was and still is a wonderful daughter. Do I know why she is gay? Nope. Do I let it ruin me or her or our relationship? NO WAY!! She is a beautiful woman now and is very happy and contributes to society in positive ways. I am proud of her and, why wouldn't I be? She was raised by me, loves God and grew up going to church.
God created her!! Did HE mess up? I don't think so.
I really wish that negative talk agains gays would stop. You are speaking about someone I love. About someone you love too...
Your dear brothers death was tragic, but would it be less painful if he died in a plane crash? Should it even matter? He is still gone. I believe he is in heaven.
I love my daughter for exactly who she is!! Every cell, every thought. She is not a criminal. Please, stop saying god says she is... or any homosexual is.
That is not love. And you should know that Christ told us what the most important commandments are [none of them say anything about gay bashing either], but He stressed LOVE... "the Greatest of these is Love." Love. The greatest thing we can do is love one another. Peace. :)

This Hub refelcts so much pain. I do understand. My brother-in-law was murdered in a homophobic rage in Johannesburg in the early 1990s. His death was a great shock and sadness to me, as he was a kind, intelligent, gentle man.
He was always conflicted and troubled by his gayness. I think we need to understand more about gayness, which is not always a choice. I cannot for the life of me accept that John (my late brother-in-law) died because of his "sin" - he died because of the lack of empathy and understanding of others. He did not "choose" to be gay.
At the same time I do understand where you are coming from and just want to say that your pain touches me deeply. It is very hard to accept some things. We really need to help and support each other.

Louis I know exactlly how you are feeling, my son Matthew was brought up in a christian family, he got married then divorce then got into a relationship with another male, it went on for about 2 years,but the last 6 months both became ill with aids but as Matt was the worst in health there was nothing that could be done to save him, the other male is still alive, we buried Matt back in 1996, but to tell you that Matt did turn back to God and asked for forgiveness as he knew that time was very short left for him.
Yes this problem is world wide, when will they wake up that God never gave permission for this to happen.

God Hub! I too have family members that have fallen into this sinful lifestyle, It's sad because they were raised around the truth and rejected it! Thanks for sharing truth about sin! Letting those know that are in it that there is a God full of mercy if they will turn away from this wickedness!

Thank you for this brave and truthful hub. In the midst of your sadness, you rose up to be God's voice of truth in an age of "political correctness". It can't have been easy for you.
But the fact is, our God does not change His perfect ways to accommodate the "political correctness" of man.
Anyone who clings to homosexuality when God so clearly condemns it--is deceiving his own mind and heart.
Most preachers it seems, are willing to back away from speaking the truth in this controversial area, in order to not offend any of their parishioners.
I so appreciate your willingness to talk so openly about a subject that is not only difficult because of the social correctness factor, but also because this has touched your own family in a heart wrenching way.

Death is a result of sin. If I reject the law of gravity and walk off a skyscraper I will fall to my death, not because God pulls me down but because the law of gravity will.
The wages of sin are death. I admire your courage in talking about this subject and am sorry for your loss.
